First Look

Well, we've officially finished our first month of school! There's been lots of learning taking place, new friends being made and new routines to adjust to. Sorry it's taken awhile to get these photos up here--I've been waiting to get everyone's permission to photograph before I posted. I've got more photos to upload but here's a little sneak peek into our morning work cycle...Improving fine motor control and concentration with the clothespin work
Learning to clean up after ourselves
Exploring measurement & construction by building with blocks
Spooning builds concentration and dexterity
Working with the Teen Board to learn about numbers & number composition
Practicing sounds with the Sandpaper Letters & Sand Tray
Building phonemic awareness by sorting objects by initial sound
Learning how to create sets of objects through work with the Spindle Box
Learning number composition and place value by working with the Golden Beads
As you can see, there's lots going on in Room 350! If you don't see your child here (and you gave permission for their photos to be on the blog), don't worry--you will soon! Come back often to check out what we've been learning...
Kindergarten Parents--don't forget! Our parent meeting is at 6 pm tomorrow night (9/14). See you then!

Open House...TOMORROW!!!

Don't forget! Open House is tomorrow at 5:30 pm. It will begin in the Dining Hall with some welcoming remarks from Mrs. Phillips & information from the PTO. Then you will be invited to our classroom for a brief talk with me! I will mainly go over school procedures/policies, our daily schedule & home/school communication. You will also have an opportunity to walk around the classroom environment and see all of our lovely Montessori materials.
*Reminder--there will be a Kindergarten Parents meeting on Sept. 14th to review kindergarten expectations, homework and ways you can help your child meet the kindergarten standards. In October, we will also be hosting a Montessori Curriculum night to answer all of your questions about the Montessori philosophy.
